2018 Invitation Design Contest – DIY Winners

Each year, we hold an Invitation Design Contest and invite our customers to submit their favorite designs. We’re always amazed by the beautiful work of DIY brides and professional designers alike! This year was our 10th Annual Invitation Design Contest, and we received more entries than ever!

Take a look at the 2018 top three DIY winners, and find out which Cards & Pockets materials were used to create their invitation masterpieces.

First Place – Kelsey Alderoty

1st-DIY-Kelsey-Alderoty

Kelsey’s winning DIY wedding invitations are modern and clean with thoughtful little details! She used our Racing Green paper color beautifully throughout her entire suite – from her save the date magnet down to the address labels – to pull everything together.

She says “I love designing things in my free time to escape from work. My whole design was based off of the Racing Green envelope I fell in love with on [the Cards & Pockets] site. I even checked in with the staff to match the Racing Green color perfectly across the design! Love your brand and the quality that comes with it! :)”

Second Place – Farren Haygood

2nd-DIY-Farren-Haygood

Farren’s DIY baby shower invitations are so unique! The invitations combine soft floral hues with beautiful greenery encompassed by an Antique Gold border as that ties it all together perfectly.

She says “I custom designed this invitation for my sister-in-law’s baby shower. I designed text on the invitation itself,  all of the leaves, flowers, and the “it’s a girl” banner to make it look like a wreath. I used my Cricut and Silhouette cutting machines to cut each piece of the invitation, and glued them together by hand. I sent them in square Cipria envelopes.”

We love all the pretty, carefully crafted details!

Third Place – Jessica Zultewicz

3rd-DIY-Jessica-Zultewicz

Jessica’s DIY wedding invitations are elegant, intricate, and beautiful.

She says “It was an absolute honor to create this design for my best friend’s wedding. She wanted her invites to reflect the rustic theme of her wedding, which was lavender and lace. I ordered a variety of paper samples through Cards & Pockets, and the bride ended up choosing Cream Puff for the base cards and Powder Green for the envelopes. Using Adobe Illustrator, I created my own unique custom laser cut design to mimic the lace design on her dress, and used a Cricut machine to make the cuts.”

We’re loving all of the delicate details, and the twine and lavender Jessica used to complete this rustic chic look.
