Save the Dates are so helpful and important for your wedding guests, as well as a big beginning step in planning your wedding.? When you hear “save the dates,” the first thing that comes to mind is probably a photo card of the happy couple with their wedding date and location. Although simple and sweet, these can all start to blend together and look the same. If you want to do something a little more creative for your big announcement, try one of these easy ideas to go beyond the norm and make your save the dates stand out in the mailbox.
1.) Photo Envelope Liner
Switch it up! Surprise your guests with a photo on the envelope liner instead of the card when they open up your save the date. It’s a fun and unexpected detail to give your save the date a unique feel.
If you’re set on using a photo on your save the date card, you can still add another type of envelope liner for extra impact. Use a solid color liner, a pretty pattern, glitter to add some sparkle, wood paper for a rustic theme, or a custom printed envelope liner like a wedding seal/logo, map of your wedding town/location, special poem, etc. You can print your own envelope liner design with our Print Shop here, or browse from our pre-made liners here. Get creative!

If you don’t want to send a photo save the date but don’t want your announcement to be too simple, think about going with a laser-cut save the date. Laser cut details bring an elegant feel to your card and set the stage for your upcoming wedding. There are six different laser cut designs to choose from, including cute laser cut tags for something completely different.
3.) Layered Vellum Save the Date
Add elegance and interest to a simple photo save the date by layering with vellum paper! This is such an easy DIY that won’t require much time but will make a lasting impression on your wedding guests. Simply print your photo on cardstock, and your basic wedding information on vellum paper cut to the same size, then layer on top with a paper fastener. Easy upgrade! 4.) Photo Frame Save the Date
Add a fancy frame to your photo using one of our PocketFrame photo mats. They come in two different sizes (A7 or A2), four different laser cut designs, and over 80 colors.
Here, we’ve taken our A7 “Squares” design and glued it on top of a simple printed photo that’s 4 7/8 x 6 7/8″ or a little smaller (we used 4.75 x 6.75″). You can also use our PocketFrame photo creator. Add your wedding details with hand lettering on the photo frame, and you’ve got a unique save the date with a personal touch.
You can do the same thing on a smaller scale with an A2 sized photo frame.

If you have more info to include, the photo frames fit perfectly with our PocketFrames, which include an oval opening for your photo and frame, along with a center panel and a pocket. Take a look at them here.
5.) Laser Cut Folded Card Save the Date
This is another laser cut element that will be sure to wow your wedding guests and upgrade a basic save the date. Mount your save the date to a laser cut folded card. Guests will be intrigued by the details they can see through the laser cut design, and it makes your save the date a keepsake and piece of art to put on display (and remind everyone of your wedding date for months)! Go rustic with our Birch Trees laser cut card, or choose from more laser cut folded card designs.
